Most roofing companies focus on roofing materials. There is nothing wrong with that; roofing materials are indeed the base to satisfactory performance. However, roof shapes are also crucial. And they too depend on the climate you live in. A shape will determine the overall look of your house as well as how well your property will deal with snow and heavy rain. If you live in a hot and dry climate, most of these roofing options will fit you, but if you live somewhere where hurricanes, snow, and rain are possible, then you have to think twice. We created a list of available shapes so you could get informed. Remember always to check with your contractor.

Gable roofs

Easy to recognize, gable roofs are most popular roof shapes in the States. They are easy to notice due to their triangular shape. This shape is great for shedding water and snow. So it is a good fit if you live in a snowy or rainy area. It creates an additional place in your house.  However, do not go for ones one if your live somewhere where hurricane season is often. These react badly to high-speed winds

Hip roofs

Hip roofs are another very popular type of roof. They have slopes on all four sides, and those sides are equal in length. Together they make a ridge. Hip roofs are stable and great for windy areas, unlike the gable roofs. They are durable and also provide you with the additional space. However, hip roofs are expensive to install, and if not properly installed they are prone to leaking.

Mansard roof

A mansard or a French roof has four sides with double slopes on each. These slopes for a low pitched roof. Sides are either flat or curves.  Like those mentioned before, mansard also allows you more living space.  A good thing about these is that they are flexible: you can add and rebuild constantly. They also increase the value to your home but do not go for the mansard roofing shape if you live in a snowy area.

Flat roofs

Flat roofs are just a plain flat surface. Who would have known huh? There is almost no pitch expect for a slight one. This small angle allows water to drain otherwise you home would be a wet mess. These roofs are still mostly used on commercial or industrial buildings, but they are slowly winning over the roofing market. They are great because they allow you to have a top garden or a terrace.

Skillion roofs

Also known as shed roofs, skillion roofs are an interesting shape. They have a single slope that is usually attached to some taller construction. This doesn’t have to the case but often it is.  Because of the harsh angle, skillion roofs are the best choice for houses in cold and snowy areas. The angle will allow snow to slide off simply. So if you are placed somewhere where snow is often, pick a skillion, and your life will be easier.

Great Service

I choose Bill Hubbell over 3 other roofers home depot because he made the roof happen at a critical weather situation labor day weekend that could have resulted in much home owner ins. damage

Prompt scheduling and good workmanship

I've worked with this company on many claims and always found them to exemplify what every homeowner should look for in a contractor, therefore I give them two thumbs up and a five star rating
